
NEWS AND EVENTSWinter 2009-2010AdamsGrayson's Director, Christopher Adams, attended LegalTech New York 2010 to meet with current and prospective clients, along with e-discovery technology partners. A hand-picked review team that at one point numbered 160 people completed a multi-level review of approximately three million documents in just under 2 months. In addition to the first-level review, which focused on relevancy, AdamsGrayson project managers oversaw a detailed advance concepts/custodian-specific review and the creation of a privilege log. Autumn 2009Working under an accelerated deadline, AdamsGrayson reviewers and project managers assisted a long-term client in achieving substantial compliance for a Hart-Scott-Rodino Act investigation involving a producer of scientific machines. Peter Gronvall began his first semester as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching "Civil Discovery Seminar" to third-year students. The course drew on many years of working in, and helping chart the course of, the e-discovery services industry. Summer 2009AdamsGrayson project managers successfully completed a 2-month document review for the merger of leading computer hardware manufacturers. Using a team of 60 document reviewers, the project entailed both first-level and privilege review, as well as a rigorous quality check of the entire data set, following AdamsGrayson's proprietary QC process. Spring 2009AdamsGrayson was in attendance at LegalTech New York 2009, held February 2-4 at the Hilton New York Hotel. At the conference, Peter Gronvall had the opportunity to speak with clients and technology vendors with whom AdamsGrayson has developed strategic partnerships. Winter 2008-2009AdamsGrayson was represented at The Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention & Production 2008 Annual Meeting, held November 13-14 in Rancho Mirage, CA. AG Managing Partner Peter Gronvall spoke at the Not For Profit Symposium, hosted by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, on November 19 at the Mayflower Hotel. Entitled “Information as Risk: What You Own Can Hurt You,” the presentation highlighted risks borne by organizations that are related to their information management programs, along with ways to mitigate these risks. The discussion also focused on strategies designed to engage professionals throughout an organization, not just those in the legal and IT departments, in order to reduce liability brought on by unsophisticated information management plans. More information on the Symposium can be found here. Autumn 2008Peter Gronvall presented a guest lecture at Georgetown University Law Center on October 7. The discussion focused on critical discovery issues that impact and shape litigation and litigation strategy today, with particular emphasis on offensive and defensive tactics and considerations that all practitioners must integrate into their practices. Summer 2008Peter Gronvall's article entitled “Selecting an E-Discovery Vendor” was published in the Vendor Spotlight 2008 issue of Paralegal Management, the official magazine of the International Paralegal Management Association. Spring 2008At LegalTech, New York City, Peter Gronvall, AdamsGrayson's Managing Partner and a Board Member of the E-Discovery Institute, was a member of an esteemed panel of industry experts who presented the findings of a thought-leading statistical analysis of computer-aided review and its efficiency and defensibility as compared to human-based linear review. Summer 2007Peter Gronvall and AdamsGrayson personnel appeared as guest panelists to discuss the legal aspects of IT governance, security and compliance on several editions of the well regarded Washington, DC radio show “Who’s Your Data?” AdamsGrayson participated in an executive breakfast roundtable on Data Management, sponsored by Network Appliance. The discussion featured various experts on data management and legal e-discovery, including Peter Gronvall, AG's Managing Partner. Spring 2007AdamsGrayson spoke at the Association of Legal Information Systems Managers April meeting, with specific focus on how the FRCP amendments on electronically stored information changed the role of IT in E-Discovery, and what IT and IS departments can do to comply. Peter Gronvall presented “Stored Information As Organized Risk” to the Greater Washington Society of CPA's, which focused on a range of corporate risk management issues with particular emphasis on information management issues.
